THE STORY OF CLASSICAL DREAMS
My parents were both classical ballet dancers which created an idealistic environment of beauty and grace mixed with their memories of the totalitarian Romania of the 60's. Their divorce when I was 8 further complicated matters as well as growing up in the projects in Queens as the only white child. When I was 10 I found that I had a talent for drawing . Finding a box of oil paints in the garbage was life changing. In my teens I found myself enamored with the Graffiti movement in 1977 and became the king of the 7 line as "Conan ".
Graffiti along with weightlifting and martial arts gave me confidence in a hostile environment. However when I was 17 I sustained multiple stab wounds defending a teenage girl who was being sexually assaulted. One of them a nearly fatal wound to my heart.
After my miraculous recovery I found myself in the museums studying the great masters of the past and began a 30 year journey of assimilating Classical Art and ideas. Here I found a sanctuary from my violent past . After 30 years of painting in a traditional manner I found myself returning to my roots as a Graffiti artist.
Then it all came together: The love for classical beauty and storytelling combined with the medium of spraypaint and markers and the mystery of life itself as a dreamstate. A dream full of beauty, meaning and purpose.
THIS IS CLASSICAL DREAMS.
